About me
Drew is a dedicated film producer and director with over 25 years of experience with recorded and live productions. His journey in the world of film and cinema began at Missouri Western State University, where he graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in Film and Cinema.
Drew co-owns Coin in a Log Creative alongside Kyler Penland. Together, they lead a talented team in St. Joseph, MO, creating compelling films and videos. Among his many accomplishments, Drew worked alongside Kyler helping to create the award-winning 2019 documentary Losing Ground.
His passion for storytelling is evident in his love for people and his skill in conducting compelling interviews and creating engaging settings. Drew's deep interest in agriculture and science stems from his heritage as a 5th generation cattle farmer in Northwest Missouri. His genuine curiosity drives his exploration of these subjects in his films.
Drew's impressive filmography includes three feature-length documentaries currently in full production or post-production: Life of a Mushroom: Picked, Prepped, and Eaten, SOLD! An American Stockyards Story, and DUES PAID - The Measly Mile Mafia Journey. Additionally, he is working on a film about the Telluride Mushroom Festival. Drew's dedication to his craft has earned him accolades such as Best Documentary and Best Director.
Drew's love for world travel and adventure is reflected in his films through dynamic action, stunning cinematography, and diverse locations. This year marks his fourth consecutive year filming at the Telluride Mushroom Festival, where he is excited to present a sneak peek of Life of a Mushroom: Picked, Prepped, and Eaten for the first time.
Beyond his professional achievements, Drew is a proud father of two wonderful children. He loves the outdoors and is an active multi-instrument musician. His commitment to his family and his work exemplifies his passion and overall drive.
