About me
Mike’s fungal journey has taken him across the UK and Europe, eventually reaching the mountains of Telluride, CO in 2018. Inspired by the community that embraced him in the Colorado hills, he launched the London Fungus Network in 2020, which aims to connect mycologically-curious humans with the urban Fungal Kingdom/Queendom - and each other. Through urban fungus forays, workshops and collaborations with artists, London Fungus Network is cultivating a community that empowers people to experience fungi in a new way and reassess the human/nature binary. Mike is also a Ranger with London National Park City, an initiative that seeks to make the city a greener, wilder – and more fungal – place.

Fungi for resilient rivers
Fungi are usually associated with terrestrial habitats, like forests and grassland, but their role in sustaining healthy, resilient aquatic ecosystems – including rivers – is often overlooked. This session will explore how wood-decaying fungi are fundamental to fluvial geomorphology and the biodiversity of rivers.
